Honduras Newspapers - What\'s Your Fancy? by: Wolf Sebring
Honduras Newspapers - Of course when you are in Honduras, you will probably want to know what is going on in the world. The newspapers here are mostly in Spanish although you will find that Honduras.com has an English language news update on its online front page. One English-language newspaper is Honduras This Week which is published in Tegucigalpa. The newspaper was first published online in 1997 and has a readership of thousands today. In fact, if you go to their website at http://www.marrder.com/htw/default.htm you will also find that there is a video cast of the top news events too. It is a very nicely-formatted and informative online newspaper. Other printed newspapers in Honduras include: El Heraldo This is a Spanish-language newspaper available each day plus it has a website. The website is in Spanish only as well. This paper is a valuable resource if you are in need of a guide to events, restaurants, and movies within Honduras. It also has a section covering world events. La Prensa This is another Spanish-language newspaper printed and distributed daily in the City of San Pedro Sula. The newspaper has a business/economic focus but it does include news and sports. It has a Central American section and a website for online viewing. The website is Spanish-only as well. La Tribuna Like the two above, La Tribuna is a Spanish-language newspaper and it has an online presence. This paper has a good mix of different national topics plus it updates the Hondurans on world events. There are also sections for sports, society, politics, tourism, culture, and economics. This newspaper has been established since 1997 and is published on a daily basis. Tiempo This is another daily newspaper and has an online presence where you can look up previous issues. It is a newspaper focused on national events and provides information on sports, politics, tourism, society, and finance. Even though you may have come to Honduras to escape the hussel and bussel of your world sometimes it is hard to go cold turkey in shutting off the news events.
